Kovacs Student Village UWC

 

Kovacs Student Village is a residence at the University of the Western Cape. The Ubunye Sister Schools Project Team along with Kovacs Student Village House Committee had a stationary drive at the residence in order to help with the learners at Lawrencia Primary. The initiative was to get the students involved in an initiative that will change a child's life.

The Stationary drive was held on 13 May 2014 and the representatives from the student village were there to present the donation to Lawrencia Primary on 14 May 2014 along with the project team. Team managed to raise funds while doing the stationery drive as some students were unable to donate any stationery and opted to donate money towards buying the stationery.

 

During the presentation of the donations, the team also got motivational speakers to motivate the learners in grade 7 and 9 respectively. The speakers were students from Kovacs Student Village UWC and they did a sterling job when speaking to the learners.

 

We would like to thank the management of Kovacs Student Village UWC for allowing us to do a stationery drive on the residence as well as for the donations that the residence management donated. Tumelo Kepadisa (Tuks Senganga) said on his song, "Ko botho bo leng teng, botshelo bo teng" which means, where there is humanity, there is life. The residents and management of Kovacs Student Village UWC as well as some of the other UWC students showed "botho" (Humanity) in participating in this project.
