Fairmont High School Helps Lawrencia Primary School

We looked to build a relationship between Fairmont High School from Durbanville and Lawrencia Primary School in Kraaifontein. The Initiative is for Fairmont High School to assist Lawrencia Primary School with some basic needs in the long term and ensuring longevity of the Sister Schools initiative. The Project seeks to break a stereotypical divide among learners from both schools. The project was initiated by the Ubunye Sister Schools Project Team from the University of the Western Cape as an assignment and handed it over to Fairmont High School to continue the relationship over the years.

The project is also about teaching kids the power of sacrifice, giving, sharing, receiving and nation building. The impact that the project has on each set of learners is such that all learners will feel to engage with one another without having a little fear that generally comes when helping someone.

The Ubunye Sister Schools Project Team managed to get Fairmont High School to agree to the project despite many setbacks with regards to school holidays. We as Ubunye Sister Schools Project Team would like to extend our greatest gratitude towards Fairmont High School and its management. The project was a success because you opened your does for us, lended your ears to listen to our initiative and opened your hearts by agreeing to the initiative. We hope more schools will follow your lead in participating on such heart-warming iniciatives.
